"WITH LLOYD GEORGE & OTHER ALLIED REPRESENTATIVES"

AMBASSADOR HARVEY TO SERVE AS CONSULTANT ON THE SUPREME ALLIED COUNCIL MEETING IN PARIS

London (JFK+50) On August 6, 1921, Arthur S. Draper of the New York Tribune writes that "a new chapter in international relations begins on Monday (August 8, 1921) when Colonel George Harvey*, U.S. Ambassador (to Great Britain)...will sit at the council table with Lloyd George "...and representatives of France, Japan, Italy and Belgium.

Topics to be discussed were to include "the Silesian question, the situation in the Near East, the trials of German war criminals and recent developments in Russia."

Ambassador Harvey emphasizes he will not be a full member of the Supreme Allied Council but will serve "more as a consultant and reporter."

*George Brinton McClellan Harvey (1864-1928) was born in Peacham, Vermont & was managing editor of The New York World 1891-1894.  He purchased The North American Review in 1899 & Harper's Weekly in 1901.  GBMH was president of Harper & Co., 1915.
