HYANNIS MUSEUM EXHIBIT FEATURES JFK ROCKER FROM WALDORF-ASTORIA HOTEL
Hyannis, Massachusetts (JFK+50) A rocking chair that President John F. Kennedy used when he stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City is being showcased at the John F. Kennedy Museum* here in Hyannis.
The museum just recently opened a special exhibit on the chair which was given by the President to the Waldorf-Astoria in 1962. The offering was in keeping with the tradition of presidents donating something "in remembrance" of their taking accommodations in the presidential suite.
The Hyannis museum will feature the exhibit for two years during the hotel's restoration. The Waldorf-Astoria is expected to reopen in 2023 at which time the rocking chair will be returned to the hotel.
*John F. Kennedy Museum, located at 397 Main Street in Hyannis, MA, includes photos, films, panels & oral histories of JFK & the Kennedy family.
