CONNECTICUT FARMER CONVERTS FLIVVER INTO MOONSHINE STILL
Willimantic, Connecticut (JFK+50) On March 9, 1922, the Associated Press reports that a 'flivver'* converted into a still has been discovered in the barn of a local farmer named Frank Nivakas.
The discovery was made by federal prohibition agents who found "the gas tank, radiator, feed pipes and hood" were all part of a moonshine still.
Enough illegal liquor also was found to send Mr. Nivakas to appear in court today.
*Flivver is a cheap car or aircraft, especially one in bad condition. Henry Ford introduced the Model 2A Flivver, a single-seat aircraft in 1927.
