"AMERICA ALONE HOLDS THE KEY TO THE DOOR OF PEACE"

BRITAIN'S LLOYD GEORGE VISITS NATION'S CAPITAL

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On October 25, 1923, David Lloyd George*, former Premier of Great Britain, came to Washington, D.C. to meet with Secretary of State Charles Evans Hughes and to attend a luncheon and cabinet meeting at the White House with President Calvin Coolidge.

Speaking with reporters, Mr. George said...

"America alone holds the key to the door of peace in Europe."

and added...

"The idea of any nation going to war with the United States is impossible.  Who would you fight?"

*David Lloyd George (1863-1945) was born in Manchester, U.K. & served as Prime Minister of Great Britain, 1916-1922.  DLG is the only British PM who was a Welshman.
