THE SHENANDOAH WILL PARTICIPATE IN NAVY DAY CELEBRATION
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On October 21, 1923, The Sunday Star reports the world's greatest aircraft, the Shenandoah*, "will be a feature of the Navy's participation in the celebration of" Saturday's Navy Day.
The airship will leave Lakehurst, New Jersey and fly down the Shenandoah Valley at an average speed of 40 miles per hour.
*USS Shenandoah (ZR-1) first of four U.S. Navy rigid airships built at Lakehurst Naval Air Station 1922-1923.
