"THE GUILTY FLEE WHEN NO MAN PURSUETH"

GUILTY THIEF ATTEMPTS TO 'MILK' FARMER'S MULE

Hot Springs, Arkansas (JFK+50) On January 23, 1924, The Associated Press reports an Arkansas farmer named Lige Dodd has recently been puzzled by the fact that his cow is "off" in her milking.

When the farmer found fresh footprints every morning in his barn, he decided to move his cow to a different stall and put his mule in her place.

The next morning, the cow "milked well,"and in the mule's stall Mr. Dodd found a "battered tin pail and torn hat."  The farmer declared, "The guilty flee when no man pursueth."*

*adaptation of Proverbs 28, 1-6 "The wicked flee when no man pursueth.  But the righteous are bold as a lion."

JFK+50 NOTE

The mule is a domestic hybrid between a donkey and a horse.  Mules can be male or female, but can not reproduce.  An angry mule can kick both backwards and to the side.  Not such a good idea to try to 'milk' one.
