"MOST SPLENDID GILDED MUMMY CASE EVER FOUND""

KING TUT'S SARCOPHAGUS OPENED

Luxor, Egypt (JFK+50) On February 12, 1924, the Associated Press reports "the lid of Tut-Ankh-Amen*'s sarcophagus was raised today" by Howard Carter.  Inside was observed "the most splendid gilded mummy case ever found in Egypt."

The Evening Star states...

"The mummy case bears an effigy in relief of the king wearing the...sacred headdress like that of the sphinx."

The royal mummy case itself has not yet been opened.

*Tutankhamum (1341 BC-1323 BC) aka "The Boy King" assumed the throne of Egypt at age 9 & died at age 19.  King "Tut" is known for the opulent wealth found in his tomb discovered in 1922.
