BROOKLYN CONTRACTOR BEING HELD BY 'DEMENTED' DOCTOR
Miami, Florida (JFK+50) On March 21, 1924, the Associated Press reports that the Miami Police Department believes Arthur Burdell, a contractor from Brooklyn, "is being detained by a demented physician."
A friend of Mr. Burdell has received an anonymous letter saying that if she "appealed to the grand cyclops in Atlanta," the contractor would be set free.
The friend, Mrs. B.J. Gardiner, also got a telephone call from a man identifying himself as Dr. Van Hausen who claimed to have given Mr. Burdell "a shot of dope" and was taking him to Atlanta.
