COOLIDGE INVITES CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS TO WHITE HOUSE FOR DINNER CONFERENCE
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On March 20, 1924, The Evening Star reports President Calvin Coolidge's "drive to speed up the legislative program will begin tomorrow night." The President has invited leaders of the House of Representatives to the White House for a dinner conference.
The invitees include Rep. Nicholas Longworth (R-Ohio), floor leader, Rep. Martin B. Madden (R-Illinois), chairman of appropriations and Rep. Bertrand Snell (R-New York), chairman of the Rules committee.
Mr. Longworth believes the Congress will get its business done before adjournment prior to the June political conventions. Until then, appropriation bills will have priority.
