"3 ORCHESTRAS INCLUDING THE MARINE BAND WILL PLAY"

PRESIDENT & 1ST LADY TO ATTEND TONIGHT'S OPENING OF THE NEW CONGRESSIONAL COUNTRY CLUB

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On May 23, 1924, The Washington Times reports President and Mrs. Coolidge will attend the official opening held tonight of the new Congressional Country Club*.

The Times describes the million-dollar clubhouse as "one of the finest in America."

Among the 3000 guests are members of the President's cabinet, heads of diplomatic missions and the Supreme Court.

A buffet supper will be provided as will the opportunity for dancing.  Three orchestras will play including the Marine Band.

*Congressional Country Club, located in Bethesda, Maryland, opened in 1924 & was founded by two Indiana Republican congressmen.  CCC has hosted five major golf championships.
