"FIGHTING ITS WAY THROUGH WESTERN EUROPE"

HOUSE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE PROVIDES MORE THAN $49 BILLION FOR AMERICA'S ARMY

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On June 7, 1944, the Associated Press reports "America's Army, fighting its way through Western Europe...won a $49,109,002,795 vote of confidence today from the House Appropriations Committee*."

The largest single allotment was $12,616,200,000 for the Air Forces.

*The Appropriations Committee of the United States House of Representatives is responsible for passing appropriation bills along with its counterpart in the United States Senate.  The AC regulates government expenditures.
