"FOOD BRINGS MORE POISON THAN NOURISHMENT INTO BODY"

LAWYER CONDUCTING EXPERIMENT IN STUDIES OF DIET

New York City (JFK+50) On August 7, 1924, The Washington Times reports that a Freeport lawyer named Harry H.M. Manley is on the 35th day of a 40 day fast*.

Mr. Manley is conducting an experiment in his studies of diet.  His theory is that "food brings more poison than nourishment into the body."

The lawyer has consumed only water during the fast and has slept only four hours each day.  One benefit of this experiment is that his teeth have turned pure white.

*fasting is the practice of abstaining from all or some kinds of food or drink.  It is sometimes done as a part of religious observance.
