"PRESENT DAY DANCING IS TOO ROUGH"

DANCE ASSOCIATION PREDICTS RETURN OF "GOOD, OLD-FASHIONED WALTZ"

New York City (JFK+50) The International News Service reports on August 12, 1924 that the International Association of Masters of Dancing predicted at the opening of its convention "the early return of the good, old-fashioned waltz*."

According to M. F. Kavanaugh, a dance teacher of more that half-a-century, says present day dancing "is about through because its too rough."

A Philadelphia high school teacher says, "College boys are to blame for most of it."

*waltz (from German word walzen, to revolve) is a popular ballroom dance characterized by a step, slide and step in 3/4 time.
