"i DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT BABIES"

BABY BOY FOUND ON D.C. DOORSTEP TO BE ADOPTED BY DETECTIVE WHO FOUND HIM

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On September 29, 1924, The Evening Star reports that police detective Howard Ogle of the 4th precinct "will adopt a six week old baby boy" which he and policeman William McDuffie found late Saturday evening.

The infant, who had been left on the doorstep at 408 8th Street SW, was taken to the Foundling^ Home* and christened "William Howard," the first names of the "finders."

Detective Ogle, who is unmarried, said...

 "I will adopt him...but I don't know much about babies."

^foundling is an infant that has been abandoned by its parents & is discovered & cared for by others

*in 1924 located at 1715 Fifteenth Street, Washington, D.C.
