STAR INVITES PUBLIC TO ATTEND ELECTION NIGHT PARTY
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On November 1, 1924, The Evening Star reports it will sponsor its "quadrennial election night 'party' for the Washington public" on Tuesday night.
The festivities will take place on the Pennsylvania Avenue side of The Star Building with the "featured attraction" being "the dramatic climax" of the 1924 election campaign.
The Star will have "two gigantic stereopticon*(s) and motion picture screens" on display "flashing news bulletins" of the election returns.
Also, there will be "extraordinary loudspeakers" which will blast out "expert analysis of important returns."
*stereopticon, a slide projector or 'magic lantern' that uses two lenses to project images. It was popular from the 1850s to 1920s.
