"TO SHOW THERE'S NO GOING BACK"

RUSSIAN EMPRESS BELIEVES HER SON, CZAR NICHOLAS II, IS STILL ALIVE

Berlin, Germany (JFK+50) On November 2, 1924, The Evening Star and The New York World published an article stating that "Nicholas II*, 'the little father of all the Russians'," may still be alive.

The Czar's mother, the Empress Maria Feodorovna**, agrees with this assessment.  She "refuses to accept the...story of the murder of her son and all the immediate members of his family" by Bolshevist jailers.

The Empress, 77 years old, is currently living in exile in England.  She is reportedly in a poor financial situation.

JFK+50 NOTE

Doubt surfaced regarding the story of the Czar & family's execution because the USSR kept the fate of the Romanovs secret until 1926.  Also, later two of the children's remains were absent from the grave, and there were conflicting DNA results on the remains that were discovered in the grave.

In the movie, 'Dr. Zhivago,' the question is asked why was this execution done.  The answer given... "to show there's no going back."

*Nicholas II (1868-1918) was the last reigning emperor (czar) of Russia, ruling 1894-1917.  He abdicated the throne during the Russian Revolution & he & his entire family were reportedly executed by the revolutionaries.

**Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928) was born in Copenhagen, Denmark & was the Empress of Russia 1881-1894, wife of Alexander III.  She was a popular figure known for her beauty.
