"CEREMONIES OF DIGNIFIED SIMPLICITY"

 COOLIDGE MAKES WISHES KNOWN FOR INAUGURATION DAY

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On January 13, 1925, The Washington Times reports...

 "Calvin Coolidge will be inaugurated President of the United States March 4 with ceremonies of dignified simplicity, by his own wish."

The announcement was made today by William T. Galliher*, chairman of the inaugural committee.

Inauguration Day will include a "strictly military parade" but no inaugural ball.  The wishes of the President were communicated to the committee today.

Chairman Galliher believes the traditional evening fireworks display will be scheduled.  

The Times states...

"Work on the Capitol and Pennsylvania Avenue stands...will be started soon."

JFK+50 NOTE

All of the officers of President Coolidge's inaugural committee were prominent Republicans who had been active in the campaign of 1924.

*William T. Galliher was born in Port Deposit, Maryland in 1836.  His family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1869.  WTG became a self-made lumber dealer & banker.  He was named chairman of the Coolidge inaugural committee on Jan 4, 1925.
