"WILL FORCE RADICAL READJUSTMENTS"

COOLIDGE PREDICTS POPULATION DIFFUSION FOR THE FUTURE BUT NOT FOR NOW

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On May 1, 1925, The Washington Times reports that President Calvin Coolidge, speaking today to the annual convention of Secretaries of American Automobile Clubs, said that the motor car "will force radical readjustments" in the future.

The President went on to add, however, that as for now "people have seem determined to crowd themselves more than ever."  The skyscraper and the elevator have contributed to this phenomenon.

Mr. Coolidge believes it would have been expected that the automobile, railways and subways would have resulted in a diffusion of the population, but, at least to date, that has not been the case.
