AMERICAN CITIZEN CAUGHT ATTEMPTING TO SMUGGLE A 'DIFFERENT WIFE' THROUGH CUSTOMS
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On November 30. 1925, The Evening Star reports that "the immigration service is taking steps to obtain the deportation of the numerous 'wives' of a certain American citizen who adopted a novel plan of faked relationship for smuggling them into this country through Mexico."
The unidentified American citizen had been convicted and sentenced for smuggling aliens across the border.
The Star says his scheme was working until he attempted to gain entry at the same port for a second time with a different wife. Customs officials were not fooled.
