"A CAKE WEIGHING MORE THAN A TON"

LONDON BAKER'S 1925 CHRISTMAS CAKE BIGGEST IN 39 YEARS

London (JFK+50) On December 16, 1925, Associated Press reports that S.F. Stevens, a seventy-one year old baker here in London, has prepared over a two-month period "a cake weighing more than a ton."

AP says "making a Christmas cake each year bigger than the one of the year before" has been Mr. Stevens' hobby for thirty-nine years.

If you would like to replicate the London baker's latest cake, here are the necessary ingredients...  

10 cases of currents. 175 pounds of sugar, 275 pounds of flour, 175 pounds of butter, 220 lemons, 2500 eggs, 150 pounds of candy peel, 30 quarts of milk, 125 pounds of almonds, 84 pounds of citron and 8 boxes of raisins.
