REPUBLICANS ADOPT RESOLUTION SAYING JFK IS A FAILURE
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On July 17, 1963. President John F. Kennedy was reminded at his news conference that his 1960 campaign slogan had been "It's time for America to get moving again!"
The reporter then asked if the President thought America was moving again but before JFK could answer, the reporter said...
"The reason I ask...is that the Republican National Committee recently adopted a resolution saying you were pretty much a failure."
The President laughingly said...
"I am sure it was passed unanimously."

The Kennedy campaign accused the Eisenhower-Nixon administration of lacking direction and prestige around the world. JFK said the country under Republican leadership was "standing still" economically. After he became POTUS, Kennedy quipped that "things are just as bad as we said they were."
