CO-EDS TALLER & WIDER WITH INCREASED LUNG CAPACITY
New York City (JFK+50) On November 8, 1923, the Associated Press reports that according to statistics compiled at Vassar College*'s economics department, "the college girl is growing."
These stats show an increase of 3/10 inches in height since 1884 along with a larger waist and improved lung capacity.
The average weight of college girls increased from 123.8 pounds to 125.8 pounds and waist measurement increased from 22 to 25 inches.
AP says the reason for these increases is the girls are more interested in athletics.
*Vassar College, located in Poughkeepsie, NY was founded in 1861 by Matthew Vassar. VC is a liberal arts college.
