COCA-COLA KING FILES FOR DIVORCE
Atlanta, Georgia (JFK+50) On June 20, 1924, Asa G. Candler*, known as the "soft drink king," filed a divorce suit against his wife in the Fulton County Superior Court here in Atlanta.
Mr. Candler charges his "pretty young wife" with cruel treatment and for "joy riding with other men." He is 74, his wife is 35.
*Asa Griggs Candler, Sr. (1851-1929) was born in Villa Rica, Georgia. In 1892, AGC founded the Coca-Cola Company & served as mayor of Atlanta 1916-1919.
