"IF PAPERS SHOW UNQUESTIONED SUPPORT OF LOCAL PARTY"

NEW ENGLAND SHOEMAKER, FRIEND OF PRESIDENT COOLIDGE, MAY ENTER POLITICS

Northampton, Massachusetts (JFK+50) On July 26, 1924, The Washington Times reports a shoemaker by the name of James Lucy, described as a "staunch friend and early adviser of President (Calvin) Coolidge," may be a candidate for the Republican nomination for representative in the legislature.

The Times further states that Mr. Lucy today agreed to become a candidate providing the names listed on his nomination papers show that he has the "unquestioned support" of the local party.
