"PAYS TRIBUTE TO MISSOURI & HER STATESMEN"

DAVIS OPENS MISSOURI CAMPAIGN DENOUNCING TARIFF

Eastwood Farm, Bunceton, Missouri (JFK+50) On September 15, 1924, the Associated Press reports "a tribute to Missouri and her statesmen was paid today by John W. Davis*, the Democratic nominee for President of the United States."

Mr. Davis spoke at the opening of his Missouri campaign which was held at Dr. Arthur W. nelson's farm, Eastwood, here in Bunceton.

In his speech, the AP says that the Ambassador denounced the Republican tariff of the Coolidge administration. 

*John William Davis (1873-1955) was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia & served as US ambassador to the United Kingdom 1918-1921.  JWD lost to President Coolidge in the 1924 election.
