DESCENDANT OF MAYAN CIVILIZATION SEES FIRST TRAIN & CAR
New Orleans, Louisiana (JFK+50) On August 20, 1925, an Indian named Lazaro, "found in the region once peopled by the ancient Maya* tribes," will be presented to the faculty of Tulane University here in the Crescent City.
Lazaro was discovered by Tulane archaeologist Fraz Blom** in his recent explorations in Mexico and Central America.
Blom, after a six month expedition, claimed to have located 24 newly identified ruined cities along with 72 Mayan monuments.
Associated Press reports that yesterday Lazaro saw his first railroad train and marveled at his first view of an automobile (taxicab).
JFK+50 NOTE
The article published in The Evening Star, Aug 20 1925, has the spelling of Mr. Blom's first name as "Franz."

*Maya civilization (250-900 AD) flourished in southern Mexico & Central America. It was known for advanced understanding of mathematics, astronomy & writing.
**Frans Blom (1893-1963) was born in Copenhagen, Denmark & educated in archaeology at Harvard University, 1922-1923 & taught at Tulane U. in 1923. FB became known for his research of Mayan civilization.
